Should I buy a 1970 Honda cl175 for $500?

by Woz
(AZ)

I have an opp to buy a running '70 Honda CL175, new to the cafe racer game so I'm not sure if $500 is a good deal?
If I do buy the bike, I will turn it into a cafe racer. So what should I know about this bike and style?

Thanx!

Hi Woz,

Those bikes are known as reliable and peppy at @ 20 horsepower. I think $500 isa little steep unless it's in very good condition. Make sure it runs well on both cylinders when cold and warmed up and revs cleanly. The twin carb unit is much more desirable and this bike should make a great cafe racer. Look for good tires and electrics as any repairs needed will make it not worth the cash. Good luck!
